The implications here are staggering. Basically, the feds are arguing that they can seize and then forfeit a domain without showing any crime actually happened. Instead, all they need to do is vaguely assert that someone, somewhere may have possibly violated a law somehow using the domain in the process — but they never have to actually prove anyone violated the specific law. In other words, if the government wanted to, under this definition, it could easily seize and forfeit any search engine domain or any website that allows public comments, merely by asserting that a link in a search result or a link in a comment led to infringing material. That’s an insane interpretation of the law — yet it appears to be the one that the feds are asserting.

In fact, David Wieland built his own system – named Prebuilt.com – from the ground up so he could be more efficient in website development. Now he’s offering his system to other domain investors too.

In this interview, Wieland discusses:

Why he bought Austin.com and (roughly) how much he spent on it, as well as how he’s monetizing it (hint: GeoPlatorms.com, an alternative to GeoCities.com)

Norcross is a city in Georgia
Today Marchex the domain holder represented by John Berryhill won a three member panel UDRP decision on the domain name.
At the time we didn’t know who filed the UDRP but it was the Norcross Corporation who had a Trademark on the term Norcross since 1969
The decision contains a sentence all domainers should love:“
“A domain name registrant is always permitted to sell a domain name to which it has rights for a profit; that constitutes bad faith only when the domain name was acquired primarily for the bad faith purpose of selling it to the trademark owner.“

The broker would be able to agree to buy the name from the owner for $10,000 while the buyer is agreeing to the deal at $25,000. The broker would earn $15,000 on the deal, minus the Escrow.com fee. There are a number of people that buy and flip names, and this shortens the timeframe on transactions.
