DQI!
The whole process starts with domain selection. Novice domainers usually learn this the hard way. In fact, usually our oldest domains are among the weakest precisely because the earliest domains tend to fall into the category of lackluster hand-registrations that were available for a reason. A simple screening tool I use is to multiply the exact search count by the average CPC. If this “Domain Quality Index” or (DQI) is 500+, odds are good that it is a development candidate. A domain can have a high DQI but still be a pass, e.g. because it is an obvious trademark or because it is not a fit for other reasons. There is still a place for catchy, brandable names. It is also statistically possible to win the lottery. In both cases, the odds are stacked against you.
