Go Daddy Opens Closeout Auctions to Public

Registrar opens up “closeout” section of domain aftermarket.

GoDaddy has removed the membership requirement to its domain name aftermarket platform in order to be able to buy “closeout” domains.

Closeouts are last-effort sales of expired domain names priced at $5-$9 plus the cost of registration. Previously, buyers had to have a membership to Go Daddy Auctions (a.k.a. TDNAM) in order to purchase these domains. Membership is no longer required.

25,000 domains are added to the closeout section on any given day, and include traffic stats when applicable. You shouldn’t expect many high traffic domains to make it to the closeout stage, but there are some good generic domain names.

Go Daddy has also set up a twitter account for Go Daddy Auctions, where you’ll get tweets of “Daily Gems”, or higher value closeout domains. Some recent examples of Daily Gems include AffiliateCenter.com, LiveJam.com, V2H.com, and EFGO.com.
