PPC (Pay Per Click – for the new people).
Today’s post is going to be short, with a few key points.
Jumping right in…
1. STOP caring how fancy and cute the landing pages are at PPC companies.
PPC is about one thing: REVENUE. I wouldn’t (and don’t) care if a company has the ugliest landing pages — it’s all about conversions and CTR (click through rate).
Put it this way:
Let’s say I own an empty lot in downtown St. Louis.
I can use this incredible lot and do something great like build a 4 level hotel… looks nice — gives me satisfaction of owning it and it makes revenue.
HOWEVER, if I can make more money simply charging $25 for every car to park in my lot — I’m going to do that.
It’s about income — conversions — click through rate and revenue per click.
GO WITH WHAT MAKES YOU REVENUE — Go with what converts.
Eye candy doesn’t put more money in your pocket.
2. Be Sure to “shop around” if you have a good traffic domain
If you have a good traffic domain and are seeking to monetize it… don’t park it one place and forget it. A domain of one topic may monetize better at one parking service and horrible at another.
We had a domain name making $5 per day when we bought it — we tried various parking companies and we were able to increase the revenue to
$500 per day! From $5 per day to $500 per day.
For example: Domain Sponsor is known for monetizing financial names well, Fabulous does well with Gambling traffic etc. etc.
Try your names at various parking services.
3. Try both Yahoo and Google Feeds
Similar to point #2, try your domain at both Google and Yahoo parking services. Yahoo and Google usually pay differently on a given topic.
Keep in mind, Yahoo is more strict on domain monetization and they default to a 2-click landing page unless you have a domain that meets their 1-click crteria.
At Google-fed parking services, you have the ability to select your own key words and “play around” with landing pages of your choice (examples: Sedo.com and DomainSponsor.com).
Typically 2-click landing pages pay more per click, but you may have fewer clicks.
Again, experiment at various parking companies and be sure to try your traffic domains at places like:
DDC.com
DotzUP.com
TrafficZ.com
Sedo.com
NameDrive.com
Parked.com
DomainSponsor.com
AdSense for Domains (Google Adsense)
Fabulous.com
and even services like Above.com exist to help you find the best place for each specifc domain name.
Remember, development is the best long term solution — you’ll soon see that parking companies will offer more development services to supplement their parking business.
